Volume 35.8 (May 1941) - 45.9 (June-September 1951)
The Bible Today was the official publication of the National Bible Institute of New York City, an institution founded by Don Odell Shelton in around 1907. Publication appears to have begun in October of 1907, and ceased with the June-September 1951 issue.
The National Bible Institute was founded by Dr. and Mrs. Don Odell Shelton in 1907, and publication of The Bible Today began that same year. The school was incorporated in 1908, and in 1916 it absorbed the activities of The Union Missionary Training Institute of Brooklyn, an institution founded by Mrs. Lucy D. Osborn in 1885.
In 1928 the charter of the school was amended by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York, authorizing the granting of the following degrees : Bachelor of Sacred Theology, Bachelor of Theology, Bachelor of Divinity, Bachelor of Religious Education and Master of Relgious Education. In 1950, the State Regents authorized the granting of the Bachelor of Arts degree and registered the curriculum for that degree.
Dr. Shelton served as president of the institution until his death in January of 1941. Dr. J. Oliver Buswell, Jr. succeeded him in that post and served the school until his departure in 1955. In 1950 the National Bible Institute was renamed Shelton College in honor of the founder.
The death of Dr. Shelton in January of 1941 brought subsequent changes to the institution and to its publication. The logo on the left was in use up until October of 1941 [though it is unclear at this time when this particularly logo first appeared] and it was replaced with the logo at the right, starting with the November 1941 issue of The Bible Today.

The PCA Historical Center maintains a near complete set of this publication for the date range October 1941 through September 1951. Covenant Theological Seminary, adjacent to the Historical Center, additionally has incomplete holdings for volumes 17, 22 and 35. Seven other libraries in the United States hold various incomplete collections, but none appear to have any of the early issues, volumes 1 - 16 (1907-1921).
