Biographical Sketch:
John Barnett Youngs [20 February 1912 – 27 April 2004] was born in Tacoma, Washington on February 20, 1912. He received a BA from Washington State University in 1934 before pursuing chaplaincy in the army. After a brief time on a home mission assignment in Ellensburg, WA in 1937-1938 and an associate pastorate at Independent Bible Church in 1938-1940, he served as a chaplain for twenty years from 1940 to 1960. He then became an administrator for the American Red Cross from 1960 to 1977 before his retirement. During his service in the military, he received an Army Commendation with an Oak Leaf Cluster as well as a Bronze Star. He passed away on April 27, 2004 in Tacoma.
